Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the most fun roller coaster in all of WDW. Don't expect any turbulence like what you would expect from Space Mountain because the ride is pretty tame in comparison. Nevertheless, this railroad ride's sharp, crazy turns and great story-detailed scenery of a mine car gone wild makes this amusement an absolute hit not worth missing!

The story behind Big Thunder is that the local mining town of Tumbleweed believe that the mountain is full of gold. Unfortunately for the gold-seekers, a recent flood has prevented the folks from reaching their riches. They decide to have one more glass at the saloon before making their way to the mountain, even though in danger of washing away.

Again, just to reiterate, every part of this ride is fun, fun, fun, right down to every single oversized pebble of rock.

Adventures in the Magic Kingdom: Big Thunder Mountain

Mickey tells you to hop on the mine cart and reach a certain station, and so that's this level's only goal. Which station you need to pull into is randomized.

Big Thunder's mini-game has the controls akin to Autopia's, except you do not have to hold down the A button to move. Pushing up will accelerate and B will slow down/brake.

Rocks and road blocks are the only objects that can harm you. Whenever you see a rock coming on screen, be sure to break to avoid collision. For the road blocks, push B to slow down and wait for clearance before moving forward.

In the middle of the level you'll see a couple of houses. From here on you should hang to the very right of the track at all times.

The western theme is there but the style comes off as being bland. I like how they included the pigs, at least showing that they've actually made an attempt to note some of the little oddities of the attraction. The crazy, unexpected turns are intact here, too. One question remains, however. Big Thunder Mountain, keyword mountain, should be on an elevation. The level looks like it takes place on flat land. Adding an aerial view, maybe a side scrolling ride, would have been an overall much better alternative.
