Rock Roll 3M Famicom Cart

Origin: Japan

# of Games: 1

Type: Famicom Game Cart

Introduction

During my search for the elusive Super Mario World cart, I picked up Rock Roll 3M in an Australian auction. Some other NES websites I have seen don’t seem to realize this is actually a copy of the Famicom game Armadillo with an added Mario graphic hack.

The label on the cart is stolen from the original Gameboy title Super Mario Land.

The subsequent title screen of Mario leads to an option to play 1 or 2 players. The world map below shows the first 4 set of levels in the game. Your goal is to meet up with green bubble sprite (which constantly moves) and beat it to move on to the next set map.

Mario sprites are not replaced in the world map.

Screen Shots

Boss

Once you catch up to the main enemy, you’ll head into a building to fight. Three hits in armadillo mode will bring him down and move you to a new world with new levels.

Next World

All of the game’s text is in Japanese, therefore I hardly know the story. Upon beating the boss, you’ll take an airplane to the next set of levels that houses another boss to take down.

In Closing

Armadillo is a fun game to begin with; adding on Mario in the mix only makes things better. Pick it up if you can.
