Introduction
I’m a little bitter towards this particular pirate, Super Donkey Kong 2. I had the chance to win a copy from an online auction but was sniped at the last possible second. What has the world come to when people tend to sniping over a Hong Kong pirate NES game! Well, aside from the crazy consumers who have too much money in their hands, I must say it’s not too hard to see why people would go bananas over this one. My auction story exemplifies just how good this pirate is.
DKC2 is an original Hong Kong pirate “port” of the sequel SNES hit: Donkey Kong Country 2. Although on the label you see Dixie as well as Diddy, you can in fact only control Diddy (also as in the SNES version, Donkey Kong is unplayable too). The graphics, levels, and even sound are damn good for a pirate and these elements are without a doubt some of the best and most impressive effects I have experienced from the old Nintendo toaster box.
Unfortunately, there is one sour Kong in this barrel of monkeys that spoils the whole banana bunch. Its name is Hong Kong. In typical HK pirate tradition, there is always a catch to spoil an otherwise enjoyable game. In Super Donkey Kong 2′s case it’s that there are only three levels. Yes. Three.

Level 1
The first level of the game is a pretty basic one. Just like in the SNES games, collect K-O-N-G along your travels for a 1-up. Sweet digitalized ape graphics!

Level 2
For the next level you will be travelling up into the clouds for the whole length. Be weary of those wonderfully animated rope-climbing Kremlings.

Level 3
The third, and final, level is the most interesting of the three. Diddy gets to morph into an animal (snake) for the remainder of the stage. Hornet bees and pirate Kremlings firing nasty cannons will give you the most trouble here.
