Parodius is the genuine Japanese import experience. Though the shell of the game does not vary much in terms of other side-scrolling shooting games in the sky, as in the same vain of Gardius, the incredibly bizarre and fun graphical characters add a style that is unique to anything else. Parodius, first released on the Famicom in 1990, saw a release in all other continents but North America two years later, making it one of the few Pal-only titles on the NES.

You can tell from the label that this Parodius NES sample came from Germany; and it is the PAL version.

I bought it from a Swiss seller living in Bern, Switzerland. The “sample” is in reality the whole version of the released game, and all of the in-game text is done in English. While playing through Parodius, I was not able to find any differences between the released PAL version and this PAL sample.

However, after dumping the game and running it through GoodNES, it is different. There’s an unused cross graphic among other things.
